Escaping The Mundane (Psychogeographies)
Gallery Unofficial Preview, Seoul, South Korea

Our urban environment is undergoing rapid changes: modern city architecture is fragmented in function, conditioning and predetermining the ways in which citizens move. Dictated by advanced capitalism, more and more public spaces are privatized and become purposive. ‘Psychogeography’, a coin termed by Guy Debord (1931-1994), describes the mode of moving through the urban environment in a playful, explorative way, allowing pedestrians to wander away from predictable paths.
Psychogeographies—Escaping the Mundane is a mixed media exhibition revolving around the rediscovery of our very own cities. Through painting, installation and sculpture, the artist reminds us to experience pedestrianism and to find new ways to interact with our built environment and cultural habitat.
