Medusa
Beton Berlin

Everything that Medusa gazes upon with her terrifying face and serpent hair turns to stone. This mythological moment of petrification opens up a multifaceted resonance for the site where she now reappears: an urban environment that can itself be read as “built to death” – a space whose structural density and aesthetic rigidity have left visible traces.
Even the gods, one might say, would have wept over the design of the Golda Meir Bridge. In this exaggeration, Medusa becomes a figure of reflection, one who not only mirrors the site but also critically exposes it: she reveals the mechanisms of architectural hardening and illuminates the relationship between myth, materiality, and the logic of urban production.
The project was curated by Christof Zwiener and embedded within the context of his urban exhibition series “Beton Berlin”.
